The Delegation of the European Union, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Armenia, Latvian State Police and the Central Project Management Agency (CPVA), announced the launch of the project “Support to Law Enforcement and Security Reforms in Armenia”. The event took place on 18-19 September 2023 in Yerevan, Armenia.

“The Agency is very proud and excited to start the implementation of the project together with our partners from Armenian Ministry of the Internal Affairs, Latvian State Police, and all the support we receive from Lithuanian colleagues – Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, Police department, Migration department and State Border Guard Service. Our key priorities in the project are to gather the best expertise which would correspond to actual needs of the Armenian partners, to facilitate knowledge sharing, networking and partnership and to find the optimal solutions to support the law enforcement and security reforms in Armenia”, said Lidija Kašubienė, Director of the CPVA, at the launch event.

On the occasion, Director of the CPVA together with Police Commissioner General Renatas Požėla, Director of the Migration Department Evelina Gudzinskaitė and the project team met with the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Vahe Ghazaryan.

The project will ensure that the newly established Ministry of the Internal Affairs in Armenia operates properly, implements the police reform, modernises the state border management services and migration flows, and that public confidence in the Ministry’s policies grows.

The project will be implemented by the CPVA in cooperation with the Latvian State Police. The project is funded by the EU with a contribution of EUR 2 million, and co-financed by Lithuanian Fund for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid with contribution of EUR 222,223.
