The Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) supports trans-European networks and infrastructures in the sectors of transport, telecommunications and energy.
The CEF programme aims to make Europe’s economy greener by promoting cleaner transport modes, high speed broadband connections and facilitating the use of renewable energy.
Supported projects contribute to improvements in the competitiveness of the European economy.
The Connecting Europe Facility for Transport is the funding instrument to realise European transport infrastructure policy. It aims at supporting investments in building new transport infrastructure in Europe or rehabilitating and upgrading the existing one. CEF Transport also supports innovation in the transport system in order to improve the use of infrastructure, reduce the environmental impact of transport, enhance energy efficiency and increase safety.
The Connecting Europe Facility in Telecom is a key EU instrument to facilitate cross-border interaction between public administrations, businesses and citizens, by deploying digital service infrastructures and broadband networks. Supported projects will contribute to the creation of a European ecosystem of interoperable and interconnected digital services.
The Connecting Europe Facility in Energy is the funding instrument that aims to improve the integration of the internal energy market and the interoperability of electricity and gas networks across borders. The upgrading of existing, and development of new energy transmission infrastructures of European importance will ensure security of supply and support large-scale deployment of energy from renewable sources.
