Lithuania is one of the first countries that, despite the military actions carried out by Russia, aims to contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine’s infrastructure and starts implementing projects dedicted for rebuilding the public infrastructure of Ukraine.
Governing Board of the Fund for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid (Fund) approved the funding of 3 rebuilding projects in Ukraine using the funds of the Fund in the form of direct financing. After the Governing Board of the Fund approved the proposal submitted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and allocated about 11 million. EUR (of which EUR 1 million is allocated already in 2022), the implementation of the following three projects for the rebuilding of Ukraine begins:
- The project “Renovation of the school in Bordyanka town” aims to renovate one of the 3 schools in the town of Borodyanka, Kyiv region, which was damaged by explosions. About 700 children of the town should study in the renovated school. It is planned to allocate EUR 5,051,000 to the project, the public institution Central Project Management Agency has been appointed as the executor of the projproject promoter;
- The project “Renovation of Kindergarten “Radist” in Irpin” aims to renovate (restore) the kindergarten building damaged by explosions and fire. It is planned to allocate EUR 3,704,000 to the project, the public institution Central Project Management Agency has been appointed as the project promotor;
- The project “Reconstruction of the Bridge over the Trubizh River” aims to rebuild the bridge over the Trubizh River connecting Kyiv and Sumy regions, which is particularly important for the logistics of these areas. It is planned to allocate EUR 2,245,000 for the project, the State Road Agency of Ukraine (UKRAVTADOR) has been appointed as the executor of the prproject promoteroject.
Special attention and urgency are planned for the implementation of the School and Kindergarten reconstruction projects in the hope that at least part of the premises of educational and training institutions will be adapted and could be used as early as September2023.
