Turkish delegation visited Vilnius to discuss climate change mitigation and energy efficiency

On 4-6 April, 2023, a Turkish delegation was visiting Vilnius for a High-level Study. The event was attended by the representatives from the Department of European Affairs of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of Türkiye and the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye. The Visit was organized under the auspicies of the „EU4 Energy Transition in Western Balkans and Türkiye“ project, in which the Central Project Management Agency (CPMA) is implementing the Turkish part. The project seeks to deliver on energy transition, to tackle climate change in municipal level, by assisting the Turkish municipalities in implementing the goals of „Global Covenant of Mayors“ (GCoM).

During the visit, the Turkish representatives attended meetings with Lithuanian public institutions, including the ministries of Environment, Finance, Transport and Energy. There also were meetings at the Druskininkai municipality, Association of Local Authorities of Lithuania (ALAL) and CPMA, among others. The visit was organized jointly with project partners – Association of Local Authorities of Lithuania (ALAL). The topics of climate change mitigation, energy efficiency and sustainable city governance were addressed during the visit, along with the ideas for further cooperation between the CPMA and Turkish institutions.
