Last week CPVA presented its flagship initiative “Future School for Ukraine“ at the four-day conference in Vilnius hosted by the European Commission. With the motto “greening Ukraine’s recovery” the conference was about remedying the dreadful damage of war and setting Ukraine on a new path of environmental and social sustainability.
The first day was opened by the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda following welcoming messages by the Minister of Environmental Protection of Ukraine and the Minister of Environment of Lithuania.
At the “Sustainable, beautiful and inclusive reconstruction – New European Bauhaus” panel Artūras Žarnovskis (CPVA) and Ruta Leitanaite (Architects Association of Lithuania) presented Lithuania’s vision of education’s restoration. CPVA’s expertise in rebuilding war-torn Ukraine enhanced with profound knowledge of the processes on the ground allows it to leverage its expertise with global partners. That’s why “Future School for Ukraine” developed to foster school rebuilding, became the key initiative to present to European and Ukrainian audiences.
The mission to restore Ukraine’s education goes beyond boardroom plans, waiting for tranquil times. It’s a pressing need of thousands of children left without their right to learn. The message resonated to many participants sparkling question-answers sessions, as well as new appointments and networking. Moreover, the project goes hand in hand with principles and values of the New European Bauhaus (NEB). NEB provides a framework aligned with EU policies and connects sustainability, social inclusion, and cultural challenges well recognized by the Ukrainian and Lithuanian partners. Therefore, it is foreseen close cooperation with NEB LAB and the possible establishment of new NEB LAB activities layered around achieving tangible transformation in Ukraine’s rebuilding.
During the conference’s finale, amidst B2B Matching and networking sessions, the “Future School for Ukraine” stole the spotlight among Ukrainian and European businesses present at the event. Based on pitches and preferences of participants, business representatives were matched in face-to-face meetings. According to Ruta Leitanaite, it was a fantastic opportunity to explain the project’s why, what, and how, highlighting its profound impact on Ukraine’s sustainable future. The project gives an unprecedented chance for Ukraine to develop something it has not had before an innovative, green, and inclusive educational landscape.
