Objective of the project
To strengthen Ukraine’s integrated national mine action governance capabilities.
Project activities and status
Provision of additional national expertise to the relevant ministries and agencies in charge of mine action in order to strengthen their capacities to improve overall mine action governance in Ukraine.
In 2023–2024, the services of the first team of 13 national (Ukrainian) experts were agreed upon and procured. During this period, the team contributed to improving the management of demining efforts in Ukraine in the following areas:
- Mine action strategy and policy development (including National Mine Action Strategy and Implementation Plan);
- Deregulation and re-engineering of business processes in mine action;
- Optimization of donor coordination processes in mine action;
- Digitalization and innovation of the mine action field;
- Strengthen communication about the mine action field.
In 2025, it is planned to procure the services of the second team of 14 national (Ukrainian). The team is expected to continue contributing to the improvement of demining management in Ukraine.
