Objective of the project

To strengthen Ukraine’s integrated national mine action governance capabilities.

Project activities and status

Provision of additional national and international expertise to the relevant ministries and agencies in charge of mine action in order to strengthen their capacities to improve overall mine action governance in Ukraine.

The services of a team of 13 national (Ukrainian) experts were procured for a period of one year. During the first year, the team’s experts contributed to the improvement of mine action governance in Ukraine in the following areas:

  • Mine action strategy and policy development (including National Mine Action Strategy and Implementation Plan);
  • Deregulation and re-engineering of business processes in mine action;
  • Optimization of donor coordination processes in mine action;
  • Digitalization of mine action field;
  • Strengthen communication in the mine action field.

For the second year, it is planned to procure services of a second team of 14 national (Ukrainian) experts. It is expected that the team’s experts will continue to contribute to the improvement of mine action governance in Ukraine.
