Objective of the project

Bringing children back to school and ensuring a safe and secure live education process in selected schools by building 5 anti-radiation, dual-purpose shelters nearby.

5 schools have been selected to build shelters
1. Odesa region

The shelter will be at Molodizhnei Lyceum, Prymorska st. 9, Molodizhne. A dual-purpose anti-radiation shelter for 780 persons will be built.

1.1. Technical design project correction services contract signed. The technical design project has been prepared and a positive expertise report has been received. 

1.2. The construction contract was signed on 16/05/2024, the construction period is 4 months (with a possible extension of 2 months). Construction of the shelter is expected to be completed in early December 2024.

2. Sumy region

The shelter will be at Sumy school No. 27, Okhtyrska st. 33, Sumy. A dual-purpose anti-radiation shelter for 1000 persons will be built. 

2.1. The technical design project has been prepared and a positive expertise report has been received. 

2.2. The tender for the construction works will be launched and executed in October-November 2024.3. Mykolaiv region

The shelter will be at Bashtanskyi Lyceum No. 2, Yuvileina st. 102, Bashtanka. A dual-purpose anti-radiation shelter for 1000 persons will be built. 

3. Mykolaiv region

The shelter will be at Bashtanskyi Lyceum No. 2, Yuvileina st. 102, Bashtanka. A dual-purpose anti-radiation shelter for 1000 persons will be built. 

3.1. The technical design project has been prepared and a positive expertise report has been received. 

3.2. The tender for the construction works will be launched and executed in October-November 2024. 4. Chernihiv region

4. Chernihiv region

The shelter will be at Desnianskyi Lyceum Dovzhenka St., 34, Desna. A dual-purpose anti-radiation shelter for 1000 persons will be built. 

4.1. The technical design project has been prepared and a positive expertise report has been received. 

4.2. The tender for the construction works will be launched and executed in October-November 2024. 5. Zaporizhzhia region

5. Zaporizhzhia region

The shelter will be at Zaporizhzhia Lyceum No.99, 'Heroiv 93-i bryhady St, 13А, Zaporizhzhia. A dual-purpose anti-radiation shelter for 1000 persons will be built. 

5.1. The technical design project has been prepared and a positive expertise report has been received. 

In September 2024, Ireland announced a new package of support for Ukraine and contributed €3 million to this programme. The allocated funds will be used to build an additional sixth dual-use bomb shelter. The location and size of the new bomb shelter will be determined after assessing the needs expressed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
