Objective of the project
To strengthen Ukraine’s integrated national mine action governance capabilities.
Project activities and status
Provision of additional national expertise to the relevant ministries and agencies in charge of mine action in order to strengthen their capacities to improve overall mine action governance in Ukraine.
In 2023–2026, a total of 28 national experts (of whom 20 were women) were involved in the project at different stages. Through their expertise, they contributed to strengthening the management of mine action activities in Ukraine in the following areas:
- Mine action strategy and policy development (including National Mine Action Strategy and Implementation Plan);
- Deregulation and re-engineering of business processes in mine action;
- Optimization of donor coordination processes in mine action;
- Digitalization and innovation of the mine action field;
- Strengthen communication about the mine action field.
In 2026–2027, the contracts of the national expert team are being renewed in phases to ensure the smooth continuation of project activities. The expert team is expected to continue contributing to the strengthening of mine action governance in Ukraine.
