Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Police of the Republic of Armenia, Migration and Citizenship Service, National Security Service, Border Guard Troops of the NSS, National Security Council.
CPVA role:
- Assessment and support to the coordination and implementation of the Visa Liberalization Action Plan (VLAP) and border management through training, cooperation, visits to EU Member States, and joint workshops.
- Strengthen procedures on improvement of cooperation and communication skills among Armenian institutions involved in Integrated Border Management.
- Legal and technical gap analysis of the current Integrated Border Management system.
- Assess the land border infrastructure to identify possible gaps and weaknesses and to provide recommendations.
- Support for development of Crime Prevention Strategy and investigation through joint operations, specialized training, analysis, equipment, and cooperation against organized and cross-border crime.
Overall objective
Strengthened EU-Armenia visa liberalization framework, supported by enhanced compliance of border management, public order and security and document security systems with EU standards.
Specific objective
SO1: Strategic coordination, communication and institutional capacity of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and relevant institutions for implementation of the Visa Liberalization Action Plan are strengthened.
SO2: Operational capacities of Armenian authorities in Integrated Border Management are developed in line with EU best practices including in document security, identity management, integrity safeguards, and inter-agency cooperation.
SO3: Capacities of Armenian Police are strengthened for the prevention and investigation of organized crime.
