Programme duration

For Ukraine‘s freedom fighters, Russia‘s attacks have not only resulted in physical injuries but also caused significant psychological trauma. To ensure that those affected can lead a normal and fulfilling life that they deserve, they must receive high-quality help as soon as possible. The Programme for the Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Wounded and War Victims in Ukraine aims to provide comprehensive support to Ukraine’s freedom fighters who have been affected by the aggressors‘ attacks.

“We must also help the Ukrainian soldiers who have carried out their mission and defended Ukraine, Europe, Lithuania and all of us. Those who have suffered and want to go back to their lives.”

— Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė on the rehabilitation programme in Ukraine, 2024.

The programme aims to strengthen the provision of services related to rehabilitation (medical and psychosocial) and reintegration into normal life, and to contribute to the improvement and development of the activities of the network of rehabilitation and reintegration services and facilities.

The complex veteran rehabilitation improvement program is implemented with the involvement of Lithuanian, international, and Ukrainian rehabilitation specialists, creating an innovative model of comprehensive medical and mental health rehabilitation services and practically testing and improving it in the Dnipro, Lviv and Zhytomyr rehabilitation centres.
