European Peace Facility
The European Peace Facility is an off-budget instrument that enhances the EU’s ability to act as a global security provider. It was established on 22 March 2021 by Council Decision (CFSP) 2021/509 based on Articles 30(1) and 41(2) of the Treaty on European Union. It is an instrument aimed to preserve peace, prevent conflicts and strengthen international security.
The European Peace Facility operates through missions and operations, as well as through assistance measures benefiting partner countries and regional and international organisations. These measures may include the supply of:
- military and defence-related equipment;
- infrastructure;
- technical support.
Currently, the EPF fund for the time period of 2021-2027 is worth over 17 billion EUR.
